Missouri (5-3) vs. Georgia (7-1) Game Preview
Why Georgia Will Win
And that’s how Georgia wins games.
It might not be LSU throwing the ball, and it might not be an Alabama thrill ride, but it gets great line play, the defense is solid, and Jake Fromm is as rock-steady as they come. The Dawgs were able to get by Florida last week by dominating early and holding on late, getting the key third down throws they needed from Fromm.
Just as Georgia got the win it needed to get back into the College Football Playoff race, Missouri’s season has started to fizzle out.
Call it the nothing-to-play-for thing thanks to the NCAA bowl sanctions, or call it just a malaise for a team that lost its offensive mojo, but no, you don’t lose to Vanderbilt and Kentucky and score just 21 points between the two games.
And now the Tigers have a third road game in a row.
All of a sudden, the offense just stopped. QB Kelly Bryant hasn’t been quite right with a hamstring injury, the running game has stalled, and the O has stopped capitalizing on its chances.
Miserable in the red zone, Mizzou was bad all year, and things got worse over the last two weeks, scoring just two times in five trips. However …
Why Missouri Will Win
The defense hasn’t been all that bad. It had problems against the Kentucky and Ole Miss funky running games, but overall, the D hasn’t been the issue.
Georgia might be more steady than spectacular, and that’s worked out well so far, but it also keeps both teams in the game.
The Dawgs shouldn’t have needed to sweat it out late against the Gators after owning most of the game, and they’ve had to work a bit too hard in other games, too, when they should be coasting.
This has to be on the Tiger defense to rise up and do something special.
The secondary has been solid at taking the ball away and limiting the big plays. Against a decent – but not sensational – Georgia receiving corps, there shouldn’t be too much happening deep in what should be a relatively conservative day from an O that’s had problems getting off to hot starts.
Mizzou’s job is to hang around, hang around, hang around, and then hope to generate the one big play or big stop when needed – just like South Carolina did.

What’s Going To Happen
Missouri has hit a bit of a wall.
Georgia will come up with third down stop after third down stop, and the Tigers won’t have enough of a running game to take control of the game. MU will get a good enough day out of the defense to not let it get out of hand, but once again the Bulldogs will be solid – with no flash – on the way to a methodical home win.
