Charlotte (3-5) vs. Middle Tennessee (3-5) Game Preview
What’s Going To Happen
This is where the run comes.
Middle Tennessee started out 2-5 and nothing was consistently, working, and then it destroyed FIU 50-16, and now comes this week, Rice, and Old Dominion to potentially get to six wins and bowl eligibility before dealing with WKU.
The Blue Raiders are dominating the turnover battle and had just enough of a passing game in spurts to get by. But there’s no pass rush, the defense is getting botched by anyone who can run the ball, and the O has way too many strange power outages.
Charlotte is also thinking bowl game.
It pulled off a thriller last week against North Texas, and it still has winnable road games at UTEP and Old Dominion coming up. Win this, and it’s in a position to get that sixth victory with a little work.
The 49ers have the pass rush Middle Tennessee is missing, it runs the ball well, and it’s able to bomb away with an entertaining attack that doesn’t score enough, but can keep things moving.
The problem? There’s a big turnover margin issue. The offense doesn’t give it up all that often, but the defense doesn’t come up with enough takeaways.
It’ll be a close fight for 60 minutes with Middle Tennessee going a +2 in turnover margin to pull off the key road victory.
