Arkansas (2-7) vs. WKU (5-4) Game Preview
Why Arkansas Will Win
All of a sudden, the WKU defense has started to crack a bit.
The D that was a rock for a slew of games got hit for 26 points against Marshall and 35 last week against Florida Atlantic – the Hilltoppers lost both games.
The offense is okay, but it can’t seem to handle any sort of battle. There’s no running game for the Hogs to worry about, and the downfield passing game doesn’t do enough to stretch the field. Throw in the major issues with turnovers, and it’s not a well run machine.
For the Hogs, it’s the John Stephen Jones show. The one plus of being 2-7 is that the team can let it rip – now it’s time to get everyone ready for next year. The freshman quarterback is a talent to build around, and all he has to do is lead the way to a few scores.
So far this year, WKU is 5-0 when allowing 14 points or fewer, and 0-4 when allowing over. In those four losses, the D gave up 26 points or more, but …
Why WKU Will Win
Arkansas doesn’t score.
It doesn’t matter if it’s against Alabama, Auburn, San Jose State, Ole Miss, Portland State … anyone. The O rolled in a 55-24 win over Colorado State, but that was the only time the team scores more than 27 points all year.
On the other side, former Arkansas QB Ty Storey has taken over the reigns from an injured Steven Duncan, and he’s been okay. He threw three picks in the loss to FAU last week, but overall he’s hitting 70% of his passes, has been hovering around 300 yards in the last three games, and he’s been just good enough to overcome some of the issues with the ground game.
But this game will come down to whether or not Jones can keep the chains moving for the Hogs. Third downs have been a disaster or the Arkansas offense, and the tremendous pass rush and plays in the backfield from the WKU defensive front won’t help the cause.

What’s Going To Happen
The Hogs will move the ball, and then they’ll turn the ball over. They’ve given it up ten times over the last three games and 16 times over the last six. The Hilltoppers will be a +2, Storey will move the offense just enough to capitalize on the opportunities, and the Arkansas woes will continue.
