Air Force (6-2) vs. Army (3-5) Game Preview
What’s Going To Happen
Who’s running game works better?
The Army O has fallen strangely flat over the last several weeks, crashing on a four-game losing streak that’s making a bowl appearance an almost impossibility without pulling this off.
Air Force lost to Navy earlier in the year, but with a win it can position itself for a strong bowl – and hope for a few breaks later in the Mountain West chase – with layups against New Mexico and Colorado State up next before dealing with Wyoming.
The Army running game continues to be fine. It ran for 326 yards against San Jose State, it’s been able to score three rushing touchdowns or more in six of its last seven games, and it’s just not enough.
The Knights aren’t getting into the backfield, there’s no pass rush, and it’s having a hard time taking over games with the long, sustained drives that make Army, Army.
Air Force is doing this better.
It’s great on third downs, it’s hitting the deep throws, and it’s only behind Navy in rushing yards per game. It’s going to do a better job of controlling the clock and will hit the big plays that Army’s passing game won’t.
The Falcons will be far more efficient and effective.
