Western Michigan (3-2) vs. Toledo (3-1) Game Preview
What’s Going To Happen
Considering how bad the MAC East is, this just might be for the MAC title.
Northern Illinois and Eastern Michigan will have their say, but the winner of this will be the odds-on favorite to roll into Detroit with the championship there for the taking.
Western Michigan has been wildly inconsistent, but it’s beating the teams it’s supposed to – and getting royally roasted by the Power Fivers. Toledo is on a roll winning three straight, including over BYU at home last week in a statement game for the program.
The Broncos can’t stop getting flagged – getting hit for a nation-high 49 for 452 yards so far – and it’s having major problems against decent offenses that can efficiently throw the ball.
Toledo’s defense is consistently worse. The secondary can’t slow anyone down, and it’s not getting any help whatsoever from the pass rush that isn’t there often enough.
However, the Rocket passing game is going off. The receiving combination of Bryce Mitchell and Danzel McKinley-Lewis will give the Broncos fits, but Mitchell Guadagni will spread the ball around enough to get everyone involved.
Have fun with this – it’ll be a wild firefight.
