What’s Going To Happen
Virginia Tech might have just saved its season.
Coming off a horrible performance in a 45-10 home loss to Duke, the Hokies rocked Miami … and then almost blew it. They survived in the 42-35 win, and now there’s real, live hope to go bowling as long as they can get win No. 4 against Rhode Island.
Unfortunately, it’s the second game of the year against an FCS team – Virginia Tech will still have to win three more games – but at the very least, this will be a nice tune-up with North Carolina, at Notre Dame and Wake Forest coming up next.
Rhode Island can’t seem to win a close game. It’s battling well, and it has the passing offense to at least push the mediocre Hokie secondary a bit, but this will be target practice time.
New Virginia Tech starting quarterback Hendon Hooker ran for 76 yards and a score against Miami, and he hit half of his passes for 184 yards and three scores. This is when he gets the live reps to get ready for what’s coming next.
