USC (3-3) vs. Arizona (4-2) Game Preview
Why USC Will Win
The receiving corps continues to be fantastic.
It doesn’t seem to matter who the quarterback is, the great group of Trojan receivers are managing to continually produce, hitting Notre Dame with a slew of big plays to make last week’s 30-27 loss interesting.
Arizona’s secondary hasn’t picked off a pass in a few weeks, and it was hit by big days from Colorado’s Steven Montez and Washington’s Jacob Eason – both of them fired at will.
With no pass rush to bother the Trojan backfield, there’s plenty of time to let the great receivers run their routes – expect over ten yards per pass attempt for the second week in a row from this group.
Why Arizona Will Win
USC has a nice team with a whole lot of good parts, but there are way too many mistakes and way too many big errors that screw things up.
The Trojans went turnover-free against the Irish, but they have yet to win the turnover battle, are -7 on the year in turnover margin, and killed itself in losses to BYU and Washington with three turnovers in each game.
Arizona has struggled lately in turnovers on its own, but if it can at least hold even on the road, it’ll be in the game.
This has to be Khalil Tate’s moment.
He’s been awful in his three games against the Trojans – he has to complete half of his passes in any of the three – and he has to break out. When he’s throwing well, the Wildcat offense has been all but unstoppable. However, USC’s run defense has the potential to get hit hard if Tate gets on the move.
He has to keep the offense on the field no matter what against a USC team that gets killed in the time of possession battle.

What’s Going To Happen
Never mess with a streak.
Granted, it makes a wee bit of a difference when the opponents are Washington and Notre Dame, but USC is 0-3 on the road, and 3-0 at home.
The Trojans haven’t lost to the Wildcats since 2012 and haven’t lost to them in LA since 2009. They’ll get into the backfield enough to bother Tate, and the USC passing game will hit just enough big plays on third downs to bounce back after two straight losses.
