What’s Going To Happen
Which option coach do you believe in more?
Tulane’s Willie Fritz might not be running the true triple-option that rocked and rolled at Georgia Southern, but his attack is putting up big numbers averaging 268 rushing yards per game. It’s not turning the ball over, it’s controlling games, and it’s able to put points on the board whenever it’s getting the chance.
But Memphis was able to slow down the machine last week that was putting up 300 rushing yards per game on a regular basis.
Navy’s offense has been even more devastating on the ground, and it’s getting stronger. It worked against Memphis – even if the Midshipmen lost to the Tigers just like Tulane did – but it’s been able to push for over 400 yards per game when it’s humming. There’s one problem, though.
Tulane saw the option a few weeks ago, and it held Army to under 200 rushing yards.
But this year’s Navy team is more than just the offense. It’s winning the field position battle, the defense is doing a great job of getting into the backfield, and the O is owning the time of possession fight. Tulane can run, but it doesn’t control the clock like Navy will.
It’ll be a fun, spirited battle. Don’t blink – this game will go by in a flash.
