Texas Tech (3-4) vs. Kansas (2-5) Game Preview
Why Texas Tech Will Win
The Red Raiders might have lost four of their last five, but the offense has been okay with QB Jett Duffey, who stepped into the staring role and has thrown for 1,000 yards and six scores in his three games.
His job is to continue being accurate – he hit 75% of his throws in the last two outings – and keep the chains moving. Kansas might be playing well enough to be interesting, but it can’t stop anyone from keeping things moving.
The Jayhawk D is dead last in college football in stopping third downs, allowing teams to connect on 53% of their tries, and it’s getting worse. The Texas Tech offense might not be consistently putting up big numbers, but this week everything about the midrange passing game should work.
On the other side, the Red Raider defense is taking the ball away, and the Kansas offense is happy to give it away. The Jayhawks have only forced five takeaways so far, but …

Why Kansas Will Win
Can the running game show up like it did last week in the 50-48 loss to Texas?
The Jayhawks got things moving earlier in the year against Boston College, and they ran their way to the win with 329 yards and three scores. They gave the Longhorns everything they could handle last week with 259 yards and two scores, helped by another massive game by Pooka Williams. He followed up a 137-yard day against Oklahoma with a 190-yard, two-score day against Texas.
Carter Stanley and the passing game helped, too.
The Jayhawks are moving the ball – Stanley has thrown for 230 yards and at least three scores in four of his last five games – and it’ll take both phases to bother a suddenly decent Red Raider D.

What’s Going To Happen
The Kansas offense continues to move the ball and keeps on making things interesting, but the defense isn’t holding up its end of the bargain. The Texas Tech attack might not be humming on all cylinders, but Duffey will put up a huge 400-yard day to keep bowl hopes alive.
