Missouri (5-2) vs. Kentucky (3-4) Game Preview
Why Missouri Will Win
The Kentucky offense has a big, big problem.
QB Sawyer Smith is close to being back – he probably could’ve played against Georgia last week, but head coach Mark Stoops kept him out in the awful conditions – but no matter who’s at quarterback, the offense just isn’t working.
The Wildcats scored 24 against Arkansas and 20 in three of the other four games over the last month. This isn’t an explosive offense to begin with, and lately there’s just nothing it can count on.
In typical Kentucky fashion, the defense isn’t getting ripped up, but it’s also not coming up with enough big stops and isn’t able to do much to help out the struggling O.
Missouri might have clunked against Vanderbilt, but so far the secondary has been terrific, the D is ranked second in the SEC behind Georgia’s, and more than anything else …
Missouri clunked against Vanderbilt. The team will be just a wee bit more focused this week.
Why Kentucky Will Win
Running game, running game, running game. It might not be explosive, and it might not be Wisconsin’s attack, but it can be effective if it doesn’t
Again, this isn’t a team with a high-octane offense that can keep up any sort fo a pace, but it’s able to control games when it can run even a little bit.
So far this year it’s been able to run for 175 yards or more three times – it won all three games. Throw last year into the mix, and UK is 10-0 when hitting that mark.
Mizzou got pushed by Vanderbilt for 150 yards and Ole Miss dashed for 204. How the it lose to Wyoming? The Cowboys can’t throw, but they pounded out the ground attack running 42 times for almost 300 yards.
UK has to grind and keep pushing the Tiger defensive front. Commit to the run, stay with it, and let the defense keep the team in the game.

What’s Going To Happen
Missouri will be much sharper and much more effective this week.
It might not be a pretty game – Kentucky games never are – but Kelly Bryant and the Tigers will come up with a few early scores and the defense will take care of the rest. The Wildcats won’t go away, but they won’t be able to get that one big drive needed in the second half to get over the hump.
