Miami (3-3) vs. Georgia Tech (1-5) Game Preview
Why Miami Will Win
Now that’s the Miami defense we’ve all been waiting for.
After getting ripped up or a half by Virginia Tech, the Canes got it back – too late – in the loss two weeks ago, and last week they saved their season with a great win over Virginia. Now the ACC Coastal title is still in play, and it’s not because of the offense.
The Cane run D gave up just 74 yards to the Cavaliers, making it five games in six when it allowed fewer than 100 yards on the ground – Virginia Tech was the only one to get over 100 yards and come up with more than one score.
Georgia Tech’s offense is running or over 100 yards on a regular basis, but it’s not running for over 200 – that matters when the passing game is dead last in the ACC.
The Yellow Jackets aren’t scoring when they’re getting their chances, they’re not able to keep the chains moving, and they’re having a hard time blocking anyone. That’s a problem against this Miami defensive front.

Why Georgia Tech Will Win
Nah, the Miami offense just isn’t working.
The Canes are dead last in the ACC and 126th in the nation in third down conversions. The passing game is working well enough to crank up the yards, but there isn’t enough explosion, the offensive line continues to have too many problems keeping defensive lines out of the backfield, and they’re dead last in college football in keeping the quarterbacks from getting hit, allowing 28 sacks so far.
It’s a team that Georgia Tech should be able to hang around with.
The Yellow Jacket run defense might be getting shoved around too often, but again, that’s not what Miami does. The Tech secondary is just effective enough to show up on key downs to get off the field and keep the score low.

What’s Going To Happen
It’s going to be a low-scoring, ugly, offensively-challenged game with Miami’s defense taking over right away and slowing down everything Georgia Tech tries to do. However, N’Kosi Perry and the Cane O will struggle and sputter, too, but like they did in the Virginia game, they’ll do just enough to get by.
