Memphis (4-0) vs. ULM (2-2) Game Preview
What’s Going To Happen
This is all about whether or not ULM’s offense can get something going against the Memphis defense that’s been a rock so far.
The 4-0 Tigers haven’t faced anyone all that nasty, but the D leads the nation in pass defense, the front is great at generating tackles for loss, and it knows how to swarm all over mobile quarterbacks. Navy QB Malcolm Perry was held to just 91 yards.
ULM QB Caleb Evans is a baller who’s been consistent, accurate, and poses a challenge the MU defense hasn’t had to deal with so far. The Warhawk offense is just good enough to make this interesting, and then there’s the defense.
The ULM run D has been a problem – playing Navy doesn’t help – and Memphis has enough pop to balance things out when needed. Patrick Taylor is still out, but the Tigers will run the ball well enough to control the game. The midrange passing game will dominate on the key plays and own the time of possession battle.
