What’s Going To Happen
Middle Tennessee can’t quite figure out what works. It’s lost four of its last five games, but it came up with a nice win over Marshall to provide a glimmer of hope to make the year something decent.
The Blue Raiders can’t do anything against the run and give up close to 500 yards per game overall, and now it’s up to the FIU running game to take advantage of it.
Anthony Jones, Napoleon Maxwell, and the Golden Panther running game are tearing off yards in chunks, running for 300 yards or more in two of the last five games and averaging way over five yards per carry and with two touchdowns or more in each of the last five outings.
There’s no FIU pass rush, but the defense has been solid against the better passing teams and it’s been great at coming up with the big stops at the big times.
On the road, FIU will face one of the few teams that has a bigger problem controlling the clock than it does. The ground game will grind out just enough have several shots at pulling off the win, but Middle Tennessee will finally play a team its own size – and it’ll finally be at home again.
The Blue Raider O will wake up this week.
