Ball State (1-3) vs. Northern Illinois (1-3) Game Preview
– “Go to the bank!” Today’s top pick of the day just released
What’s Going To Happen
Ball State isn’t playing that poorly considering it’s 1-3 and hasn’t beaten an FBS team.
The passing attack is effective and efficient enough – it least all MAC teams with 345 yards per game – and the defense isn’t totally miserable. However, it played Indiana, NC State and lost a shootout to Florida Atlantic.
Northern Illinois can’t get its offense moving on anyone.
Granted, the Huskies have faced Utah, Nebraska and Vanderbilt over the last three games, but nothing is working. The ground game that’s been such a staple of the program has gone MIA, and there’s no passing attack to make up for it.
However, despite playing the strong teams, the Huskie defense has been able to hold up just fine. The team controls the clock, it doesn’t turn the ball over, and it’s not bad at keeping good passing games from rocking and rolling.
This won’t be anything amazing, but NIU will finally get a win for head coach Thomas Hammock against an FBS team.
