Georgia (2-0) vs. Arkansas State (1-1) Game Preview

Why Arkansas State Will Win

The offense has kicked it all in.

Even with a slew of key changes, and with head coach Blake Anderson off taking leave after the tragic loss of his wife, the Red Wolves are rolling on the offensive side.

Logan Bonner stepped in at quarterback and has been solid, the running game ripped it up against UNLV, and overall, there’s just enough pop to keep pushing a Georgia team that has yet to deal with any stress.

The offensive line has been terrific so far. It’s going a solid job for a ground game while doing a great job in pass protection. The team is there to hold up against a team whose head might already be on the Notre Dame game.

Why Georgia Will Win

The Bulldogs have been sharp so far.

Vanderbilt is Vanderbilt, but it was still an SEC road game, and Murray State was supposed to be a scrimmage, but there still hasn’t been any sort of a hiccup.

The backups have been able to get meaningful work, Jake Fromm is coming off a 10-of-11 game against the Racers, and the defensive front has done a far better job so far of getting behind the line after not doing it enough last year.

Both lines are every bit as good as expected, and they should own the game throughout. In this, the Bulldogs should be able to power away with the running attack and have control throughout.

What’s Going To Happen

Arkansas State will be annoying. Bonner will hit enough short to midrange throws to keep things moving, and Georgia will have to try a bit more than it might want to.

There won’t be any real drama – the Bulldogs will go on a scoring drive when they need one – but it’s not going to be the most even of games. The Notre Dame game will be what everyone is focused on, and at least for a little bit, Georgia will play like it … and still win easily.
