3. TOP ILLINOIS PLAYERS

Best Illinois Offensive Player

RB Reggie Corbin, Sr.
The 5-10, 200-pounder is the best back in a deep stable that should be one of the team’s biggest positives. He averaged well over eight yards per carry with 1,085 yards and nine scores, and he did a decent job as a receiver, too, with 16 catches for 176 yards.

When he was on and the offense was working, he was unstoppable, running for 100 yards or more in four games in a five game stretch, highlighted by a 213-yard, two touchdown day against Minnesota.

Best Illinois Defensive Player

 LB Jake Hansen, Jr.
On a team that needs good tacklers, the 6-1, 230-pound Hansen is a much-needed force coming from an improving Illini linebacking corps. The team’s leading tackler came up with 95 tackles with 8.5 tackles for loss, starting out with a 15-stop day against Kent State and with 11 against Maryland. He’s not going to do much as a pass rusher, but he’ll get on everything against the run.
