In some configuration, Clemson vs. Oklahoma will be the 2 vs. 3 in the College Football Playoff matchup in a rematch of the 2015 Orange Bowl – a 37-17 Deshaun Watson win over Baker Mayfield’s Sooners. The assumption is that Clemson or Alabama will get the one seed, and Oklahoma will roll through the back half of its season with the momentum to avoid the No. 4 spot for the second year in a row.

Alabama or Clemson will end up with the top seed, with the projection that the Tide finishes unbeaten and rolling into the tournament … again. The other call is for the Michigan-Ohio State winner to go on to win the Big Ten title and get in at 12-1. And Clemson vs. Alabama wouldn’t be bad, either.

It’s going to be a fun year.
