All You Really Need To Know About Duke (32-5)
(ACC), NCAA NET Rank: 3. East 1-seed
Yeah, Duke is good and all, but UCF had that game won, and Virginia Tech had its game going to overtime, but …
No matter what, you have to catch a few massive breaks to keep on marching on.
Duke made a ton of freshman mistakes against the Hokies, didn’t have Cam Reddish in the lineup, and got outworked and outplayed for long stretches, but it’s here against Michigan State with a shot at the Final Four.
Zion Williamson and RJ Barrett are playing like the NBA stars they should be right now, but the Blue Devils were beaten on the boards by Virginia Tech, missed too many from three, and committed 12 turnovers.
With this team, it’s all about keeping the focus up and the mistakes to a minimum for a full 40 minutes. Against Michigan State, the Blue Devils won’t be able to get away with the way they played in the last two games.
All You Really Need To Know About Michigan State (31-6)
(Big Ten), NCAA NET Rank: 8. East 2-seed
While Duke is all about drama, Michigan State is floating right on through the tournament as if it was running a few light scrimmages.
LSU should’ve given the Spartans a whole slew of problems, and didn’t. MSU got balanced scoring, plenty of easy baskets, and ramped up the defense early on in the easy 80-63 win.
The D clamped down from three, the offense came up with 22 assists, and the 41 rebounds helped turn the game into a rout.
What’s Going To Happen
UCF had the team to beat Duke. Virginia Tech had the team to beat Duke. Neither one beat Duke.
Michigan State is going to beat Duke.
Zion Williamson is playing every bit up to the hype, and the stars are showing up, but the Spartans are air-tight with the ball, they’ll pounce on every Duke Mistake – and there will be plenty – and they’ll dominate the rebounding margin.
Toughness on the inside, a great transition game, and a veteran backcourt that can move the ball around.
The Spartans will make the shot at the end the Knights and Hokies couldn’t.
