Inside Linebacker Rankings Going Into The 2019 NFL Combine

By

1. Devin White, LSU 6-1, 238 (1)

Career Statistics: 286 tackles, 8.5 sacks, 28.5 tackles for loss, 1 pick, 9 broken up passes, 4 forced fumbles

Why Devin White Is Here On The List: There was a time when LSU was known for cranking out some of the best NFL defensive talent around – except at linebacker. That changed over the last few seasons, and White is not blowing through the old mold after coming up with 256 tackles and 25.5 tackles for loss in the last two seasons.

He’s not going to be too much of a pass defender, and there’s still some tweaking to be done with his tackling style, but he’s what you want in an inside linebacker. He’s big, he’s tough, he’s a leader, and he’ll do absolutely everything necessary to make himself into a star.

What The NFL Types Want To See: Just how smooth is he? The on-field athleticism and play speed are fantastic, and he’s a thumper who should be among the clubhouse leaders for linebackers on the bench, but how loose are the hips? How’s the footwork? He’s already a sure-thing first rounder, but one good workout makes him a must-have in the top 15.

Bottom Line: He’s it. He’s the alpha-male linebacker you want running your defense. It’s not crazy to consider him a top five overall talent, and it’s not a stretch to say he’ll be a great value get around the 15-to-20 range. As is he’s a special defender, and he’s only getting better.
