2. It’s Alabama, and it’s everyone else

It already sort of is. Even if Bama loses, it’ll almost certainly be No. 1 in the 2019 preseason polls. However, a loss would make it two Clemson national titles in the last three seasons.

The LeBron Cleveland Cavaliers were only able to beat the Golden State Warriors once. It was epic. It was also a bit of a blip.

Clemson beating Alabama to close out the 2016 season wasn’t a fluke. That was an amazing team on a mission, and it came through. But do it twice, and all of a sudden, this becomes Clemson’s college football world and it’s “… with me as always is Alabama.”

Remember, national titles aren’t guaranteed to anyone – and that includes Alabama.

It seems like eons ago now, but there was actually a time not all that long ago when it seemed like Alabama might have lost just the tiniest of steps. It seems ridiculous, but going two years in a row – 2013 and 2014 – without a championship was sort of big, especially when the 2014 Sugar Bowl loss to Oklahoma and the issues trying to stop Johnny Manziel were thrown into the mix.

Win, and this goes beyond the talking point of college football being Alabama, Clemson, and everyone else. Win, and this becomes Alabama and everyone else.
