2019 Tennessee Volunteers Football Schedule Analysis

– How tough is the schedule? Ten of the last 11 games are against teams that went bowling, but it’s even harder than that.

The Vols aren’t pushing themselves too hard to start the season, getting Georgia State, BYU and UT Chattanooga in non-conference play. Yeah, BYU won at Wisconsin last season, but … come on. You win that if you’re Tennessee – you have to. UAB kicks off November to round out the slate – that doesn’t include a game against a Power Five team – outside of the SEC.

– As always, it stinks that the automatic tie-in to the West is against Alabama, and it’s on the road. Worse yet, it’s after the Mississippi State game, which comes after starting up the SEC play with …

– At Florida, and then Georgia – that kicks off the conference action. South Carolina and Vanderbilt are at home with the second half of the schedule easing up a wee bit, but the Vols go on the road to Kentucky and Missouri in November.
