2019 Northwestern Wildcats Football Schedule Analysis
– Akron last season, Duke the year before, Western Michigan and Illinois State in 2016. 2015 was the last time Northwestern got through a non-conference slate without a blip, and it’s not going to have it easy this year with a trip to Stanford to kick things off.
There’s an unnecessary week off to follow with UNLV coming to Evanston right after. The third game is against UMass, but that’s not until mid-November as part of a run of three straight home games.
– The defending West champs only leave Illinois once from October 5th on – they go to Indiana. That’s hardly a bad team to deal with from the East, however, Michigan State is the other interdivisional game. At least that’s at home. The third one? Ohio State. That’s at home, too.
– September 28th and November 5th. Northwestern has back-to-back road games against Wisconsin and Nebraska in a make-or-break run that will decide its West fate. The Iowa, Purdue, and Minnesota games are at home.
