Breaking down and analyzing the 2019 Minnesota Golden Gophers football schedule.
2019 Minnesota Golden Gophers Football Schedule Analysis
– There isn’t a non-conference game against a Power Five team, team, but it’s a far, far tougher pre-Big Ten schedule than it might appear to be on paper. South Dakota State went deep into the FCS playoffs. Going to Fresno State is going to be a nightmare, and trying to deal with the Georgia Southern option attack won’t be a breeze – even for the team that rolled Georgia Tech in the Quick Lane Bowl.
– The Gophers get Wisconsin at home with a chance to make it two in a row in the battle for the Paul Bunyan Axe, and getting Nebraska at home is a big break in the West race, too. However, they have to go to Iowa and Northwestern in back-to-back weeks in a brutal November.
– There’s no Michigan, Ohio State or Michigan State from the West to play. Dealing with Penn State will be tough, but at least that’s at home coming off a week off. Maryland isn’t a pushover, but it’s a home game – and it’s a whole lot better than other options from the East.
