2. It was a really, really good run for UCF
If it was so easy to win 25 straight games, everyone would do it.
Try to look at the big picture of what UCF was able to do – this one loss doesn’t necessarily mean anything more than a win would’ve elevated the program. Over the last two years, the program showed it’s ready for a bigger stage.
TCU was able to make the leap from the Group of Five world into the Power Five. So was Utah. So was Louisville.
It’s time for the Big 12 to wake up and become the 12-team league to match its conference name – or, even better, go to 14 – with UCF as a key piece of the puzzle.
The fan base is obviously rabid, the recruiting area is fantastic, the TV market is strong, and …
The team showed over the last two years it could win, and that’s where it all starts.
It’s not like the run is over. It’s just a bowl loss – the Knights are still going to be terrific next season. Head coach Josh Heupel is still there. The machine doesn’t stop just because it lost one game.
