Fearless Predictions Results So Far

ATS: 22-15-2
O/U: 15-22-1

Florida State (13-4) at Boston College (9-7)

Game Time: 12:00 ET
TV Network: ESPNU

It’s been a rough run for Florida State, losing three of its last four games including a blasting at Pitt on Monday. However, Boston College has lost five straight including all four ACC games. To be fair, the Eagles lost to Virginia, Virginia Tech, and had three road games in the last four.

They’re just not moving the ball well enough and they can’t hit a lick from the outside. They don’t generate points from the defense – that’s an issue against an FSU team that loves to give the ball away. The Seminole defense will take over in the second half, but the road win will come after owning the defensive boards. BC can’t shoot, and it won’t get enough second chance points.

Prediction: Florida State 72, Boston College 67
Line: Florida State -6, o/u: 147

Providence (11-5) at Marquette (15-3)

Game Time: 12:00 ET
TV Network: CBS Sports Network

After busting through a three game losing streak with a win over Seton Hall, can Providence stop a Marquette team on a run of 12 wins in its last 13 games? Maybe.

The Golden Eagles might be great on the boards and they’re terrific in the interior at coming up with big defensive plays and blocks. But the Friars are strong on the boards and fantastic at coming up with blocked shots, too. Marquette makes just enough mistakes – and Providence comes up with just enough takeaways – to keep this close. But the Golden Eagles pull this off at home – with or without star guard Markus Howard.

Prediction: Marquette 72, Providence 68

Illinois (5-12) at Iowa (15-3)

Game Time: 1:00 ET
TV Network: SEC Network

Just when this hot mess of an Illinois team seemed destined to tumble completely into the abyss at an 0-5 Big Ten start – it destroyed Minnesota in one of the most stunning blowout wins of the college basketball season. Meanwhile, Iowa is on a terrific run of nine wins in its last ten games.

The Illini are aggressive, which is great at forcing mistakes, but there are a whole lot of fouls. You can’t foul Iowa – it hits more free throws than anyone in the nation. The Hawkeyes will destroy the Illini on the boards, and they’ll pull away on the free throw line.

Prediction: Iowa 77, Illinois 68
Line: Iowa -8, o/u: 156.5
