Fearless Predictions Results So Far

SU: 30-11
ATS: 24-15-2
O/U: 15-24-1

Maryland (16-3) at Michigan State (16-2)

Game Time: 6:30 ET
TV Network: FS1

Michigan is still pretty good, but these are two of the Big Ten’s best teams, and they’re coming in on a roll. Maryland has won seven straight, and Michigan State is on an 11-game run.

The Terps might not be great at moving the ball around, and they turn the ball over way too often, but Michigan State doesn’t force enough mistakes and gets crushed in turnover margin. However, the Spartans rebound like crazy, lead the nation in defensive boards, and crush teams at home. They also lead the nation in assists – ball movement will be the difference at home in a thriller.

Prediction: Michigan State 77, Maryland 74
Line: Michigan State -9.5, o/u: 148.5

Virginia Tech (15-2) at North Carolina (14-4)

Game Time: 7:00 ET
TV Network: ESPN

The Hokies bounced back from their loss to Virginia to roll Wake Forest, but now they have to deal with their third road game in four dates. North Carolina lost at home to Louisville three tames ago, but got their groove back to be a part of a tie atop the ACC standings – along with Virginia Tech.

Can Virginia Tech rebuild with the Tar Heels? Nope. UNC is one of the best rebounding teams in college basketball, and the Hokies are just okay on the boards. However, they hit just about everything from three and they don’t screw up enough. It’ll be close, but North Carolina isn’t losing this at home – it’ll get too many second chance points.

Prediction: North Carolina 74, Virginia Tech 69
Line: North Carolina -4, o/u: 155

Iowa State (14-4) at Kansas (15-3)

Game Time: 8:00 ET
TV Network: ESPN

Kansas should be a wee bit grouchy after losing late to West Virginia on the road on Saturday, and after getting destroyed by Iowa State a few weeks ago. The Cyclones followed up that big 77-60 win with two straight losses before finding their groove again, particularly on defense.

Iowa State just doesn’t make mistakes. They’re ultra-careful with the ball, are great at bringing the defensive pressure, and they’re dangerous when they get going from three. But they’re about to run into a very, very motivated Jayhawk team that might be a bit too inconsistent, but can scoring in bunches. KU wins this on the boards.

Prediction: Kansas 78, Iowa State 70
Line: Kansas -5.5, o/u: 146.5
