2019 BYU Cougars Football Schedule Analysis

– Give BYU credit – it has no problem stepping up against the big boys. It’s another brutal start to the season with four straight Power Five games – Utah, at Tennessee, USC, Washington. Three of the games are at home, and on the plus side, going 3-1 sets things up for a great season. 2-2 ends any all College Football Playoff dreams – laugh if you want, but 11-1 makes it interesting. But …

– It’s not like it’s a schedule full of layups the rest of the way. Boise State is at home, but that’s not easy, and going to Toledo, South Florida and Utah State for three games in four dates isn’t fun. Closing out at San Diego State adds another nasty road game.

– The light part of the schedule comes in November. Liberty and Idaho State can’t be stressful, and going to UMass shouldn’t be an issue of the Cougars are any good. However, again, November is bookended by road games at Utah State and San Diego State.
