Really? Arizona State at Michigan State is probably the second-best non-conference game of the Big Ten season?

Notre Dame goes to Michigan, but … come on. The conference isn’t exactly pushing the envelope when it’s taking on the Power Fivers.

There are a few decent matchups like Northwestern going to Stanford, and Purdue is dealing with both Vanderbilt and TCU.

Iowa vs. Iowa State is always fun, and people will make a big deal out of Penn State vs. Pitt, but, again … come on. What are we doing here?

Ohio State dealt with Oklahoma for a few years and made the trip down to TCU last season. This year’s big game is against … Cincinnati?

Indiana’s top showdown is against Ball State. Illinois has a dogfight against … Akron? Minnesota has to go to Fresno State, but there aren’t any games against Power Five programs.

Wisconsin? It deserves a break considering it plays so many good teams from the Big Ten East, but the toughest non-conference game is the opener at USF. The Badgers don’t play a Power Five team outside of the Big Ten slate – again.
