4. Ohhhhhh, Will Muschamp … NOOOOOOO

This was supposed to be the year when South Carolina was going to break through under Will Muschamp and be a bit of a player in the SEC East race.

Instead, the Gamecocks finished 7-6, lost to Georgia, Florida and Kentucky, got ripped by Clemson, and now … this.

It’s not just that South Carolina lost a bowl game. It’s that it wasn’t even close against Virginia, flopping and failing to do anything offensively – keeping the ball for just over 17 minutes – and getting outgunned 413 yards to 261.

And now what? Florida is coming off a great season and a blowout bowl win over Michigan. Georgia is a powerhouse, and Tennessee and Kentucky are improving. Where does South Carolina fit into the mix?

Now 22-17 in his first three seasons, 1-2 in bowls, and 12-12 in the SEC, the Muschamp era hasn’t quite taken off.

NEXT: Bryce Perkins is fantastic
