1. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Like the Ohio State job before it was open, and like the Cleveland opening if Urban Meyer wants to go to the NFL, there’s that sense that Notre Dame is that one place he’d go if he wanted another top college job.
This time around, Notre Dame wouldn’t screw it up.
Meyer was Notre Dame’s for the taking back in 2004, but Florida came in strong for the then-Utah head coach, and the rest is history.
Brian Kelly has the Fighting Irish in the College Football Playoff, and while he can stay as long as he wants right now, his stock has never been higher.
If he ever wanted to jump to the NFL – like, say, the Cincinnati Bengals for the former UC head coach – this would be the time for the 57-year-old to make the move.
But let’s say Kelly wants to make that move in 2019, or if the team has a disappointing 8-4 season, the call for Meyer would get louder and louder.
