You’ve Read This Far, So You Get Three Honest Thoughts On The SERVPRO First Responders Bowl
– Few programs have brought the fire and the production to the bowl season more than Boise State. At some places, bowl games are a mindset. The Broncos ripped off four straight wins towards the end of the Chris Petersen era, lost the 2013 Aloha to Oregon State when he took off to Washington, and have gone 3-1 in the Bryan Harsin era playing three Power Five teams.
– There was a time when you could set your watch to Boston College winning a bowl game. The program owned bowls for eight straight trips, and then everything changed starting with the 2008 Music City Bowl loss to Vanderbilt. Since then, BC has gone 1-6, but most of the games have been tight. The team will play well and battle, considering the way the last few weeks of the regular season finished up, winning this bowl game is a big deal.
– This is the ACC’s tone-setter for the two-game, post Christmas stretch. It was an awful year for the conference, but with Georgia Tech playing Minnesota in the Quick Lane right after the SERVPRO, and with Duke taking on Temple in the Walk-On’s Independence and Miami playing Wisconsin in the New Era Pinstripe the next day, it’s a big moment for the league. Boise State is the real deal, but losing to a Group of Five program is losing to a Group of Five program. The pressure is on Boston College.
Super. So Who’s Going To Win The SERVPRO First Responder Bowl?
Boise State doesn’t screw up. This is Brett Rypien’s final game as the Boise State quarterback, and he’ll be sharp after only throwing two picks since mid-October. The Broncos will be the more efficient of the two offensively and the defense will get off the field on a consistent basis. BC will keep this close, but it’ll be another tough, tight bowl loss.
