QB Clayton Thorson, Sr. Northwestern: The Wildcat star quarterback suffered a torn ACL in last year’s bowl win over Kentucky, but he came back in a hurry to lead the way to the Big Ten West title. The 6-4, 226-pound pro prospect threw 14 interceptions, but he ran for nine touchdowns, threw 15 touchdown passes, and kept the O moving without a slew of offensive weapons to work with.

LB Blake Gallagher, Soph. Northwestern: With Gallagher combining with fellow sophomore Paddy Fisher, Northwestern has one of the Big Ten’s best linebacking tandems, combining for 224 tackles on the season. The 6-1, 227-pound Gallagher doesn’t do much against the pass, but he led the way with 120 tackles with 6.5 tackles for loss.

QB Tyler Huntley, Jr. Utah: Is he really ready to play? Just when the Utah offense was starting to kick it all in, Huntley suffered a broken collarbone in early November and was thought to be out for the year, but he was cleared for contact and is just getting back into his reps. Freshman Jason Shelley was terrific in an emergency, keeping the ship afloat and leading the way to three straight wins to take the Pac-12 South, but he threw three picks in the Pac-12 title loss. If Huntley is okay, he’ll give it a go.

DE Bradlee Anae, Jr. Utah: Considering Chase Hansen – the team’s top all-around defender – is hardly a sure thing to go thanks to an injury, the pressure will be on Anae to do even more to get into the backfield. He led the team with eight sacks and 14.5 tackles for loss to go along with 45 tackles.
