Three Reasons Why You Should Watch The R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl
– Technically, this is a terrific matchup now that the Sun Belt champion is locked into this bowl – at least for right now. Appalachian State has been fantastic throughout its Sun Belt Championship season, starting out with a thrilling run at Penn State in a tough late loss, and closing out with a strong win to take the league’s first conference title game. It’s, arguably, one of the three best Group of Five teams this season.
– Middle Tennessee is coming off a tough loss to UAB in the Conference USA Championship, finishing up a strong season with a hot second half run. It’s an opportunistic team with a good pass rush, and efficient passing game, even if the offense didn’t explode on anyone but it’s league’s weaker teams. Win, and it would be a huge feather in the Conference USA cap.
– Now, the game became even more interesting with the loss of Appalachian State head coach Scott Satterfield to Louisville. Mark Ivey has been the assistant head coach – nothing much should change – but he’s still an interim coach as the school looks for the best new option. If the team plays at a high level in a blowout, Ivey just might stick as the full-time guy.
