The reaction and 5 Thoughts to Oklahoma’s 39-27 Big 12 Championship win over Texas.
5. Now that’s the environement
It was just the second season in the reboot of the Big 12’s title game, but this was why the league did it. It was the point of forcing an extra game on a conference with a round-robin format.
Remember, if this was a few years ago and the Big 12 didn’t have a conference championship game, Oklahoma almost certainly isn’t in. Now, if Georgia loses to Alabama, it’s probably getting in as the fourth spot.
And that pressure and everything being on the line showed fro the start.
It’s hard to replicate the interest and excitement of a rivalry like Oklahoma and Texas in a big room like AT&T Stadium, but this one did it.
The crowd, the energy, and the excitement was there throughout – try to watch this compared to the Pac-12 Championship in the dark, half-empty Levi’s Stadium.
The pressure was on Oklahoma to be strong enough to look worthy of the College Football Playoff, the fire was there for Texas to be “back” to being Big 12 Championship good, and this turned into everything you want in a conference title game.
