1. This now turns into a quietly great season for Louisiana Tech
Sometimes, bowls become the things that end up defining the narrative of a season. A great season doesn’t quite look so hot in retrospect if the teams ends with a dud, and a mediocre campaign can occasionally feel like it was more fun with a win in one of these things.
It’s the game the fan base will remember for the next eight months. Go out on a high note, and everyone is happy.
Louisiana Tech was just okay.
Its offense never quite got going, and losses in three of the last four games – including a crashing thud against a horrible WKU team – soured a 6-2 start. But with this win, the team finishes with eight wins – a boost from last year’s 7-6 campaign – and the final month of the season doesn’t really matter anymore.
And the players got to go to Hawaii, too.
