Army (10-2) vs. Houston (8-4) Game Preview
Three Reasons Why You Should Watch The Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl
– Thanks to the military academy aspect to the bowl, it’s been one of the best post-season games over the last four season. Army overcame San Diego State’s Rashaad Penny in a wild rushing battle last year, making it four shootouts in a row and the third in the group decided by seven points or fewer. Each of those four were decided by 69 points or more – this one should, too.
– Army is at it again. Remembering that the school – like all military academies – doesn’t get the same level of football talents that normal FBS football programs bring in, it’s all about the right players for the right scheme. The Army rushing offense kept on rolling with another amazing season, and now the program is shooting for its first 11-win season.
– There’s no greater contrast in styles this bowl season. The Cougars have no run defense, star DT Ed Oliver is off getting ready for the NFL, and the team is dead last in college football in time of possession. So to make this work, the Houston offense has to bomb away and score fast with an attack that scored 31 points or more in every game and with 41 or more ten times.
