4. Yeah, Arizona State lost, but …
Head coach Herm Edwards has made the program easy to root for.
When asked about star WR N’Keal Harry sitting out to protect himself for the NFL; “I’m 100% all for it.”
When asked at halftime about the game: “This is so much fun.”
And that’s the feeling around Arizona State all season long. Edwards has been intense, and he’s been able to battle and push his team, but he’s also been able to succeed when just about everyone assumed he and the Sun Devils would fall flat.
It was a bowl loss, and the chances were there to make a push, but Edwards did just fine with his team that didn’t have Harry on offense, and missed star linebacker Merlin Robertson – out for the game for a family emergency.
Yeah, there wasn’t an improvement in the record after ASU went 7-6 last year under Todd Graham, but there’s a shift. Compared to what happened at UCLA and Arizona, the season was just fine.
The pressure will be on for Year Two, but compared to the doom-and-gloom predicted five months ago, this was just fine.
