What will the College Football Playoff rankings be when they’re released on Sunday?
And now it’s on …
So what will they be? Here’s the best guess for what the College Football Playoff rankings will be on Sunday.
25. Boise State Broncos 10-3 (22)
Boise State won’t be dropped too hard for losing a great Mountain West Championship in overtime to Fresno State. There’s a chance Army could slip in here, and NC State might have a shot, but nah … the Broncos won’t drop out of the top 25.
24. Iowa State Cyclones 8-4 (23)
The Cyclones will be punished a bit for struggling way too much against Drake, but they won’t be dropped out of the top 25. It’s Iowa State in the final top 25 – Matt Campbell is doing an amazing job.
23. Missouri Tigers 8-4 (24)
Underappreciated all season long, the Tigers will finish up easily in the top 25. They didn’t get enough respect for blowing away Florida and ending the season hot, but they’ll get a fantastic SEC bowl spot.
23. Northwestern Wildcats 8-5 (21)
They put up a good fight against Ohio State and won’t be punished too hard for losing the Big Ten Championship. They’ll hold the honor of ending Ohio State’s College Football Playoff dream, and they’ll still get a good New Year’s Day bowl, but missing out on the Rose Bowl will sting a little bit.
21. Utah Utes 9-4 (17)
The Utes will drop after a rough Pac-12 Championship loss, but they won’t fall too far. They’ll likely be just behind Washington State in the bowl pecking order and get a good game, but it’s not the Rose Bowl.
