1. Baylor sort of needed this
This was a program that had to undergo a total overhaul under head coach Matt Rhule, and it was painful.
The Bears not only went 1-11 last season, but it went 2-17 going back to the middle of 2016. The team started out hot, but most of the wins were over the weak and the sad – five of the six came against teams that didn’t go bowling.
After losing four games in five, the win over Texas Tech to get here was nice, but the Red Raiders didn’t have any quarterbacks left. Baylor didn’t just win a bowl game, but it beat an SEC team for a third bowl win in four seasons.
This was a six-win turnaround, and now Baylor starts to look like one of the rising Big 12 teams this offseason.
