3. Uhhhhhh, tackling?
Vanderbilt, why and how were so many Baylor players flying running through open spaces?
In several key moments – and some normal ones, too – Baylor was able to get their guys on the move with simple plays that weren’t all that crazy, and they kept going and going and going …
Maybe it was the time off that killed the team’s tackling, but to give up a 75-yard touchdown pass to Trestan Ebner in the fourth quarter and a 52-yard play to Marques Jones in the final few minutes – there was a massive breakdown.
And there were issues on the other side, too.
Vanderbilt got a 65-yard catch and run from Khari Blasingame in the opening minute, and Ke’Shawn Vaughn ran wild including a 69-yard scoring dash.
It was fun, but it was fun because the defenses were bad just as much as the offenses were great.
