Tulane (6-6) vs. Louisiana (7-6) Game Preview
Three Reasons Why You Should Watch The AutoNation Cure Bowl
– Bowl games are a big deal for Tulane. The Green Wave haven’t gone to one since losing the 2013 New Orleans Bowl to Louisiana, and it’s just the third bowl appearance since 1998 – the program should be jacked up to be here.
The same goes for Louisiana, playing in just the sixth bowl game in the school’s history – at least at the FBS level – and the first one other than the New Orleans. 4-1 all-time in bowls, the program is getting back after missing out last season.
– Tulane is coming in on a roll, winning four of its last five games to get bowl eligible for its first post-season appearance since 2013. The ground game in the Willie Fritz option offense is solid, and the D brings a terrific pass rush that helps out a mediocre secondary that’s giving up 267 yards per game.
– Louisiana came up with a good effort in the Sun Belt Championship loss to Appalachian State, and now it gets a chance for some in-state bragging rights if it can solve the Green Wave run defense and control the clock. Under first year head coach Billy Napier, this team has a killer ground game, it’s tough, and it played well despite a slew of issues. The effort will be there.
