2. Scott Satterfield is leaving a heater
Old Appalachian State’s head coach Scott Satterfield’s Louisville team probably won’t be better – and it definitely won’t have as good a record – as next year’s Mountaineer team.
Mark Ivey did a wonderful job coaching up the team in the interim – it was a perfect job interview for a head gig of his own. But the job went to NC State offensive coordinator Eli Drinkwitz, and he’s walking into a full pantry.
The six of the top seven rushers are back, and all of them were underclassmen. That includes QB Zac Thomas, who stepped in for Taylor Lamb and made the great program even stronger.
Eight of the top nine pass catchers return, nine of the top 12 tacklers are back, and four of the starting offensive linemen in the bowl game should make the O even more of a dominant force.
It’s a great situation for Drinkwitz, and now the pressure is on. Appalachian State expects at least ten wins, and Sun Belt title, and a bowl victory.
The honeymoon period is now over.
