4. Brent Stockstill’s final game
All the Middle Tennessee quarterback did was finish his career as one of the top passers in the history of college football. But this wasn’t how it was all supposed to end.
A few weeks ago, Brent Stockstill’s team lost in a rough collapse to UAB for the Conference USA title. And now came this.
He threw for 330 yards and a touchdown with two picks, but the yards didn’t make much of a difference considering how down the Blue Raiders were after the first half. However, he was able to come up with several big throws, and he kept on pushing, despite the unrelenting pressure from the ASU pass rush.
The Mountaineers cranked up six sacks, 12 tackles for loss, and were in Stockstill’s face all game long. But the passes kept on coming.
With this performance, Stockstill passed the likes of Jared Goff, Kliff Kingsbury, and Matt Barkley to move up into the top 30 of all-time college passers.
That’s little consolation in a blowout loss.
