1. Alabama is in the national championship again

Never take this for granted – and Nick Saban doesn’t.

It’s a fourth straight season playing for the national title, and it would’ve been a a fight for a fourth championship in those five if Bama could’ve stopped Zeke Elliott and Ohio State in the semis of the inaugural CFP.

But these things aren’t givens.

It’s ridiculously hard to play for a national championship, and Saban’s program has done gotten the job done four years in a row.

Bama has to break the No. 1 seed curse – no No. 1 has won the CFP title – and Clemson’s defensive front is a wee bit nastier than what Oklahoma brought to Miami Gardens. But for the next few moments, just dream of what that might be like to have your program playing for a national title for four straight seasons.

Saban has created a standard of excellence that can’t be realistically matched. It’s not going to last, but for now, it’s another College Football Playoff national title appearance.

Someday, Bama and Clemson will let more have their moment, too. Maybe.
