WKU (1-8) vs. Florida Atlantic (4-5) Game Preview
What’s Going To Happen
Welcome back, Florida Atlantic.
Just when it seemed like the Owls were going to be on the short list of 2018’s biggest disappointments – and they’re still close – they destroyed FIU on the road to keep bowl hopes alive.
They still have North Texas and Charlotte to go – neither one will be easy – and they have to knock back a punchless WKU team to get within realistic dreams of a six-win season.
The Hilltoppers just can’t get this season going. They’ve lost five straight games without scoring more than 17 points in four of them. They’re all about being the spoiler now, but they don’t have the ability to do it.
The run defense has been rough, giving up 197 yards or more in three of the last four games. Devin Singletary is still being Devin Singletary – he leads the nation in rushing touchdowns by three – and he needs to take over right away.
WKU just doesn’t score enough, averaging a puny 19 points per game, without enough of a rushing offense and with too many giveaways. FAU has a problem with turnovers, too.
Which Owl team will show up? It’ll be good enough to pull off the win, but it’s going to have just enough of a problem with the WKU passing game to not feel too comfortable.
