MAC

Miami University 42, Ball State 21
The RedHawks became bowl eligible, as Alonzo Smith ran for 207 yards and three scores, and the defense shut out the Cardinals in the second half. MU closed the season with a bang, fighting to win three straight to get to six. Ball State closed out its clunker of a year giving up over 500 yards to the RedHawks.

Western Michigan 28, Northern Illinois 21
Jamauri Bogan ran for two touchdowns – with his one-yarder in the final minutes breaking a tie – as Western Michigan overcame a few big Northern Illinois scoring plays and an 85-yard scoop and score from Sutton Smith for the win. This was big for the Broncos – seven wins should secure a bowl spot. NIU could just go through the motions with the MAC Championship berth already secured.

Ohio 49, Akron 28
Ohio did what it could to stay alive for the MAC championship with 169 yards and two touchdowns on the ground from AJ Ouellette for the easy win. Akron got 356 yards and four scores through the air from Kato Nelson, but the loss ensured a losing season. There’s one more game at South Carolina for the Zips – that will have to be like a bowl. Ohio’s MAC dreams were crushed when Buffalo beat Bowling Green.

Buffalo 44, Bowling Green 14
The Bulls ensured a spot in the MAC title game against Northern Illinois, helped by two Kevin Marks touchdown runs and a fumble return for a score from Brandon Williams. The Bulls ran for 332 yards and four scores, and the UB D allowed just 205 yards of Falcon offense.

Toledo 51, Central Michigan 13
Toledo exploded with 124 running yards and two scores form Bryant Koback, and Eli Peters overcame a shaky day with 180 passing yards and a touchdown to lock in a bowl spot somewhere – getting to seven wins matters in the MAC. CMU was bad at college football this year and fired head coach John Bonamego after failing to beat an FBS team.

Eastern Michigan 28, Kent State 20
Eastern Michigan got a seventh win to help its bowl cause on 118rushing yards and three touchdowns from Ian Eriksen. Kent State wasn’t awful – outgunning EMU 388 yards to 376 – and it stayed in the game late, but it turned the ball over three times.
