3. Give Utah credit for getting here, but …
It’s a shame it didn’t have its guys in the offensive backfield.
It was the first appearance in the Pac-12 Championship, and it had plenty of chances to get the job done and pull this off. But this was the game when not having QB Tyler Huntley and RB Zack Moss hurt.
Of course, give Washington the respect for coming up with the big defensive performance to get the job done, but part of the rise of the Utes was the improvement of Huntley and the running of Moss.
Jason Shelley did a nice job filling in and saving the season, and not all of the three picks were necessarily his fault, but this was a game for a veteran quarterback to navigate through.
Armand Shyne wasn’t the problem, but he only ran for 37 yards – a team-high.
This Ute team did the program proud, and it’s still a great season with a shot at ten wins in the bowl game. But there will always be a regret at what might have been.
And what might still be, if and when Huntley and Moss can come back healthy.
