UTEP (1-9) vs. WKU (1-9) Game Preview
What’s Going To Happen
These two are both equally bad – and it should make for a somewhat terrific game.
UTEP finally busted through a losing streak that stretched back to 2016 with a win over Rice, and it’s been competitive throughout the second half of the season – at least for a 1-9 team.
The offense has finally started to play well, and now it’s time to try setting a tone under head coach Dana Dimel going into the 2019 season with this game, and Southern Miss to end the campaign.
WKU has been an extreme disappointment, losing six straight with the offense falling off the map. The one-time powerhouse of an offensive machine program has scored more than 17 points just once in the last six games and three times all season long.
The problem has been taking advantage of their chances. The Hilltoppers aren’t putting the biscuit in the basket in the red zone, and it’s just not running well enough.
UTEP will do a better job of controlling the ball and the clock, the secondary will hold down the middling Hilltopper attack, and Quardraiz Wadley will run well enough steady the Miner O.
It’ll be entertaining, with the Miners taking over the game with a long second half drive to take the lead for good.
