UNLV (2-7) vs. San Diego State (7-2) Game Preview
What’s Going To Happen
Just stay alive, San Diego State.
The Aztecs have been limping along with tight game after tight game, losing to Nevada a few weeks ago and struggling way too much with a mediocre New Mexico team. And now they need just to get through this to get to Fresno State with a chance to take control of the West race.
The offense has been painful, there’s not enough of a passing game, and the banged up backfield has had a hard time moving the chains. But the D has been great, and somehow, with smoke and mirrors, the team keeps winning.
Now it gets a UNLV team that’s been leaking oil for weeks.
The Rebel defense has gone from bad to totally miserable, but there’s been just enough of a passing game to make things mildly interesting – at least for a little while.
Getting Juwan Washington back in the Aztec backfield helped last week – he returned after missing a month, running for 95 yards and two scores against the Lobos – and QB Christian Chapman eased his way back into the mis with an effective day.
Now that they’re feet are wet, they’ll turn it loose.
Finally, San Diego State will have an easy game and a blowout win without any drama. The UNLV D won’t be able to hold up from the start, and the Aztec defense will take care of the rest.
