Tulsa (2-8) vs. Navy (2-8) Game Preview
What’s Going To Happen
It’s playing out the string time for two wildly disappointing teams.
Navy could just never get this thing going. The offense was inconsistent, and the defense didn’t get much help – it needs the O to own the time of possession, and that’s not happening.
On a seven game losing streak, the Midshipmen get this, then go to Tulsa, and then wait a few weeks for what amounts to their bowl game against Army.
Tulsa could just never get this thing going. The offense finally blew up against a miserable UConn team, but it suffered close loss after close loss on the way to a tough run with little to no luck.
And now it gets to try to stop Navy, even though the run defense hasn’t been even close.
The Golden Hurricane have been able to stay in games despite getting hammered for way over 200 yards on the ground on a regular basis. Navy’s ground game gets the yards, but it doesn’t crank up the points and can’t go on long drives like it needs to.
This week, it’ll run for well over 300 yards, finally start controlling the clock, and the defense will come up with just enough stops to make it look like the Navy team it was supposed to be.
Like all Tulsa games, it’ll be close and competitive, but like all Tulsa games – it seems – it’ll fall just short as the offense fails to come through just when it needs the one big drive to take over.
